A graduate of the second level of university studies in the field of Teacher training and Education Science, English language and literature teacher training in combination is qualified to be a teacher of English language and literature at the level of lower and upper secondary education.
The qualification of the graduate corresponds to the relevant level of education according to the qualification framework. The goals and measurable educational outputs correspond to the level of the Slovak Qualification Framework in the European Higher Education Area: second level – Mgr., SKKR level 7. Graduates of teaching study programmes have developed knowledge of biological, psychological and social aspects of individual development, know and understand the concept of the institutional socialization process in broader social science contexts. Other specifics of the graduates of the second level of the field are contained in the Description of the study field Teacher Training and Education Science, which is found in Decree 244/2019 Coll. on the system of study fields in the Slovak Republic.
Graduates master the in-depth content of the disciplines of their specialization, know the basics of didactics, methodology and epistemology of the disciplines of their subject specialization in accordance with the needs of education at the lower and upper secondary level. They know how to transform the scientific system of the field into the didactic system of the field of English language and literature. They know the application and integration of the theoretical foundations of design, implementation and evaluation in teaching. They know the theoretical and practical aspects of the methodology of teaching English as a foreign language. Graduates possess extensive psychological and methodological knowledge, allowing to understand the relationship between the processes of learning and teaching, the education and upbringing of an individual and the dynamics of a social group.
Graduates have practical experience in planning and organizing the activities of individuals and groups of learners in the educational process. They can define teaching goals in the context of educational goals and the individual needs of learners. They have basic practical experience with the use of materials and technical means in teaching and with the development of the key competences of learners. They know how and are able to adapt innovative methods, strategies and forms of teaching English language according to the specific conditions of the school environment. They independently identify the developmental and individual characteristics and individual educational needs of learners, they accept the individuality of learners, and can take into account the individual needs of learners during the planning, projecting and evaluation of the teaching process. They can independently evaluate various pedagogical situations and processes, react to them flexibly and solve them optimally. They have developed skills in the field of information and communication technologies.
The graduate has extensive linguistic, oral and intercultural competence. The graduate masters English language at level C1 of CEFR - Common European Framework of Reference for Language Knowledge in oral and written interaction. They are familiar with systematic knowledge of linguistics, literature and methodology in the field of English language and literature. The graduate masters the historical-cultural, value-moral, literary and social contexts and the peculiarities of the English language and literature. The graduate can consider recommendations, formulate his or her own opinions in English related to the English language, linguistics, literature and literary science.
The graduate is able to identify the possibilities of their own continuous professional growth and learning, knows self-education methods and research and development methods in the field of teaching English as a foreign language. The graduate demonstrates a high degree of work independence and can maintain contact with current developments in the studied discipline.
Graduates of the study programme when assessing their applicability on the labour market will fall into category 011 Education according to the international standard classification (International Standard Classification of Education: Fields of Education and Training 2013).

The website above is managed by the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic. According to the data presented on this website, in 2018, out of 7 respondents – graduates of the second level of study, 86% of graduates of the second level (master's) were employed and 14% unemployed. In 2019, out of 6 respondents - graduates of the master's level, 83% were employed and 17% worked abroad or were voluntarily unemployed.
Information on the applicability of graduates of JSU study programmes is monitored by the JSU Career Counselling Centre. A survey carried out in 2021 was attended by 342 graduates, including graduates of the study programme English language and literature teacher training in combination in the second level of study in the number of 23. The respondents received their degree between 2009 and 2021.
65% of them are employed, 13% are on parental leave, 9% are self-employed, 9% are unemployed and 4% are continuing their studies.
81% of the employed respondents found employment in the field of their study programme and 19% of the employed respondents got a job in a completely different field.
47% of employees in the study field belong to the employment group "Teachers in secondary schools", 35% to "Teachers in primary schools", 6% to the employment group "Language lecturer and language school teacher", 6% to the employment group "University teachers" and 6% work in another employment group.
47% of employees in the study field teach subjects related to both majors, 47% teach one out of the two majors of the combination, and 6% teach subjects unrelated to the majors originally studied.

Feedback with a focus on examining the quality of the study programme English language and literature teacher training in combination is implemented continuously by teachers providing the study programme. It is carried out individually during working visits of teachers of English language and literature and based on structured interviews between teachers of English language and literature, management of primary and secondary schools, employees of methodological centres and training schools and the teachers of the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, JSU with a focus on the quality of the composition of the study programme and the quality of the profiling components of the graduates. The obtained information is evaluated during the working sessions of the Department of English Language and Literature by its members.

Studying the study programme consists of two parts:
1. study part - lectures, seminars, practices and independent study
2. pedagogical part – teaching practice
The study programme English language and literature teacher training in combination at the second level of study is an organic part of the field of study Teacher training and Education Science. It is intended to provide the second-level university education necessary for professions in the field of pedagogical theory and practice.
The specific method of teaching, its criteria and required goals are described in details for each course of the presented study programme, which is also provided in each course’s information sheet.
The student of the study programme, as part of fulfilling the requirements of the study programme, or after completing it entirely and obtaining the required minimum number of credits, creates their own study plan in which:
- by regularly attending lectures, they acquire basic theoretical knowledge in the field of English linguistics, literary science and the field of teaching foreign languages,
- through regular participation in seminars and exercises, acquires and deepens theoretical and practical knowledge from the above-mentioned areas and
- with independent activities, they solve the tasks assigned within the contact hours.
After harmonizing and modifying the English language and literature in combination (second level of study) study plan, newly admitted students will follow the harmonized study plan at the beginning of the academic year and will study according to the courses and rules after the adjustment, while second-year students continue to study according to the original recommended study plan and courses for which they were admitted.

The study programme takes place at the Faculty of Education of the J. Selye University, except for teaching practice, which is carried out at the training schools of the J. Selye University.
For compulsory courses, the student receives 80 credits. Out of these, 72 credits are for the courses and teaching practice (27 credits from the first major programme, 27 from the second major programme, and 12 from the courses from general pedagogy), in addition, the student must pass the state exam for 8 credits (out of which 3 credits are received for the first major programme, 3 for the second major, and 2 from the courses from general pedagogy).
As for majors, the difference may be 1-2 extra credits, or at the expense of compulsory subjects, but these are compensated by the offer of compulsory optional subjects. The sum of credits for compulsory and compulsory optional subjects remains constant: 117 credits.

The student receives 37 credits for compulsory optional courses. Out of these, 29 credits are for courses and teaching practice (13 credits from the first major - from which the student writes a final thesis, 9 credits from the second major and 7 credits from the courses from general pedagogy), in addition, the student must defend a master's thesis from one major for 8 credits.

The student signs up for optional courses from the list of courses from general pedagogy offered by the whole faculty in the number of minimum 3 credits for master's studies.

120 credits are required for graduation, out of which 54 are from one major programme (from which the student writes a master's thesis), 42 from the second major, and 24 credits are from the courses from general pedagogy.

The student receives 12 credits for the master’s thesis and the defense of the master’s thesis (out of which 4 for working on the master's thesis within the course Master's Thesis Seminar, and 8 for the defense of the thesis).

Verification of educational outcomes and evaluation of students is carried out in accordance with the JSU Study Regulations.
Forms of verification and assessment are: 1) continuous assessment, 2) final assessment, 3) the combination of continuous and final assessment, 4) examination (JSU Study Regulations, Article 10, point 1). The course can be completed by completion, assessment and examination.
The evaluation of an exam or course assessment is carried out with a grade according to a classification scale, which consists of six classification levels:
a) A - excellent (numerical value 1) – excellent results (90 -100%),
b) B – very good (1.5) – above average results (80-89%)
c) C – good (2) – average results (70-79%)
d) D – satisfactory (2.5) – acceptable results (60 - 69%)
e) E – sufficient (3) – the results meet the minimum criteria (50-59%)
f) FX – fail (4) – further work is required (0 - 49%)
The student has the right to have one regular exam date and two retakes within the listed exam dates and the schedule of the academic year for the given course in the given semester in which the course is enrolled.
At the request of the student or the examiner, in justified cases (e.g. bias) the dean allows to retake the exam in front of a committee appointed by the dean on the basis of a written proposal by the head of the department. It is possible to apply for a commission examination in writing by always indicating the reason of the request at the study department of the faculty until the end of the examination period. The commission exam is not a new exam date, it must be carried out within the retakes. The original examiner is also a member of the committee, as well as a student representative with an advisory vote.
The JSU Study Regulations describe the procedures and rules for obtaining credits, their collection and transfer, which is in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System. Similarly, the rules and procedures for recognizing completed courses at another university are defined.

Study/research stay, by which we declare support for domestic and foreign mobility of students. The JSE Study Regulations clearly describe the procedures and rules for obtaining credits, their collection and transfer, which is in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System. In order to increase the number of participants in Erasmus+ mobility, the Section for International Relations, in cooperation with the faculties of the university, regularly organizes informative Erasmus+ days and workshops, and offers the possibility of personal or online consultation. Promotional materials are distributed to JSU students and information is regularly published through the university‘s information channels.

In the study programme, the university applies the rules and tools of ensuring research integrity and preventing plagiarism and other academic fraud. According to the JSU Statute, plagiarism is considered a misdemeanour and is subject to disciplinary proceedings. The university identifies violations of research integrity, plagiarism and academic fraud and implements measures to ensure that violations of these rules are not compatible with obtaining an academic degree. In accordance with the current trend, the university systematically searches for and addresses students with specific needs and records an observable increase in the number of these students. Students with special needs are eligible for support services based on their specific needs. According to the JSU Statute, a student becomes a member of the academic community by enrolling in one of the study programmes offered by the JSU or its faculty. As a member of the academic community based on the JSU Statute, the student has the right to address proposals, comments and complaints to academic self-governing bodies – the procedures and rules of which are defined in their legislative documents. The students of the study programme are provided with effective mechanisms for reviewing initiatives by which they demand the protection of their rights or interests protected by law, which they believe have been violated, or point to specific shortcomings in the activities or inaction of the university. The review of suggestions is transparent and takes place with the participation of student representatives. Feedback on the results of the review of the suggestions and the measures taken is provided to the submitters of the suggestions.

The basic condition for admission to the study of the second level study programme is the completion of the first level study programme in the same study programme, which is followed by the chosen master's study programme. A teacher training combined study programme in the field of English language and literature in combination is expected.
Applicants should have sufficient language skills (at least at level C1 of the European Framework of Reference).

The basic condition for admission to the second level study programme is the completion of the first degree study programme in the same study programme, which is followed by the chosen master's study programme.
Another condition for admission to master's study programmes is the delivery of a printed application (also in the case of submitting an electronic application) to the university's contact address with all the required details. The faculty takes into account the results achieved in the bachelor's study programme as part of the admission procedure. The dean of the Faculty of Education JSU decides on the admission of applicants. Notification of acceptance/non-acceptance will be received by the applicant in the form of a postal item (letter) in his/her own hands.
As part of the admission procedure for the academic years 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022, all applicants for studies at the Faculty of Education at the JSU in the master's study programme English language and literature teacher training in combination in accordance with the conditions for admission to master‘s study programmes at the Faculty of Education, JSU were accepted for the relevant academic year.
The J. Selye University strives to actively involve students in the evaluation and improvement of the study program and the teaching process. At Faculty of Education at UJS, an evaluation of the quality of teaching is carried out every year, namely the evaluation of the subject and the evaluation of the teacher's approach to the educational process. The evaluation will take place at the end of each semester through the academic information system in the form of a questionnaire, anonymously, and the evaluation is voluntary on the part of the students. As part of the evaluation, students have the opportunity to evaluate the given subject, comment on its relevance, usefulness in connection with a specific study program, and applicability in practice. The teacher's approach, preparedness, overall appearance, openness to students' questions, effort to help, correctness, comprehensibility of interpretation, consistency and objectivity in evaluating student performance are also evaluated. The evaluation is carried out according to a point scale: very good (1), good (2), average (3), below average (4), bad (5) and also by verbal expression of the students' opinion.
The results of the evaluation of student feedback are the subject of discussion at individual departments and faculties. The results are also part of the annual reports that are presented to scientific councils and academic senates, which include students themselves, as well.

The J. Selye University strives to actively involve students in the evaluation and improvement of the study program and the teaching process. At Faculty of Education at UJS, an evaluation of the quality of teaching is carried out every year, namely the evaluation of the subject and the evaluation of the teacher's approach to the educational process. The evaluation will take place at the end of each semester through the academic information system in the form of a questionnaire, anonymously, and the evaluation is voluntary on the part of the students. As part of the evaluation, students have the opportunity to evaluate the given subject, comment on its relevance, usefulness in connection with a specific study program, and applicability in practice. The teacher's approach, preparedness, overall appearance, openness to students' questions, effort to help, correctness, comprehensibility of interpretation, consistency and objectivity in evaluating student performance are also evaluated. The evaluation is carried out according to a point scale: very good (1), good (2), average (3), below average (4), bad (5) and also by verbal expression of the students' opinion.
The results of the evaluation of student feedback are the subject of discussion at individual departments and faculties. The results are also part of the annual reports that are presented to scientific councils and academic senates, which include students themselves, as well.
