The Bachelor's study programme Hungarian Language and Literature Teacher Training (in combination) is an organic part of the study field Teacher Training and Education Sciences. The study programme consists of two parts:
1. the study part - lectures, seminars, exercises and independent study,
2. the pedagogical part - hospital practice.
The study programme consists of compulsory and compulsory elective courses, a bachelor's thesis seminar, a teaching practice and a state examination including the defense of the bachelor's thesis. The study programme is designed to provide the education necessary for teachers of Hungarian language and literature in the field of pedagogical theory and practice. The specific forms of teaching, its criteria and the required objectives are described in more detail for each subject of the submitted study programme, which is also provided in the course information sheet. In order to fulfil the requirements of the study programme or to complete it and obtain the minimum number of credits required, the student creates his/her own study plan, which includes all compulsory subjects of the study programme and selected compulsory elective subjects. By completing them, the student will acquire up-to-date knowledge of Hungarian linguistics and literature, will be able to transform the acquired knowledge into a didactic system for teaching the subject of Hungarian language and literature, and will be competent to formulate scientific problems independently, to think relationally and analytically about the defined problem, to keep in touch with the current development of his/her discipline and to continue his/her own professional development effectively.
The study programme is created in accordance with the Rector's Order 16/2021 Methodological instruction for the creation, harmonization and modification of study programmes at JSU and in accordance with the Dean's Directive No. 1 /2021 on the processes of the internal quality system of the Faculty of Education of J. Selye University, Ev. No. 7183/4050/2021/PF/UJS. On the basis of these guidelines, students and representatives of employers were involved in the alignment of the study programme. The study plan is available in the Academic Information System of JSU.
After the alignment of the study programme Hungarian Language and Literature Teacher Training in combination (1st degree) with the adjustment, the newly admitted students will start studying the aligned study programme at the beginning of the next academic year and will study according to the courses and rules after the adjustment, while the students of the second and third year will continue studying the aligned study programme according to the original recommended curriculum and the courses to which they were admitted.
The student takes compulsory courses in Hungarian linguistics (Hungarian Phonetics and Phonology, Morphology of Hungarian language, Research of Living Languages, Syntax of Hungarian Language 1 and 2, History of the Hungarian Language) and compulsory courses in Hungarian literature (Introduction to the Study of Literature, Theory of Literature, History of Hungarian and World Literature 1, 2, 3, and 4), selects courses from among compulsory electives in linguistics (Introduction to Linguistics, Hungarian Ortography, Lexicology, Basics of Finno-Ugric Language Studies, Semantics, Modern Linguistic Trends) and from among the compulsory electives in literature (Introduction to World Literature, Literature and Culture, Children's and Young Adult Literature, Literature and Science, Text-Based Seminar 1 and 2). The student completes teaching practice, Bachelor's Thesis Seminar and state subjects: Bachelor's thesis defense, Hungarian language and literature.
The profile subjects are Introduction to the Study of Literature, Theory of Literature, History of Hungarian and World Literature 1, History of Hungarian and World Literature 2, History of Hungarian and World Literature 3, History of Hungarian and World Literature 4, Research of Living Languages, Syntax of Hungarian Language 1, Syntax of Hungarian Language 2 and Bachelor’s Thesis Seminar.
The information sheets of all educational units/subjects clearly describe the requirements for their completion as well as the learning outcomes that the graduate will acquire upon completion of the educational unit/subject.
Continuity of individual profile subjects: the subjects of literary theory are related to each other. The Theory of Literature course requires the knowledge that students have acquired in the Introduction to the Study of Literature course. The Literary History courses build on the theoretical knowledge acquired in previous semesters. The course History of Hungarian and World Literature 2 is a direct continuation of History of Hungarian and World Literature 1. It is necessary for students to have a comprehensive view of the literary-historical processes in earlier Hungarian literature and in the literature of the nineteenth century. Literary history is not just a series of life works of individual authors, therefore it is important for students to understand the connections between the different eras. For example, according to recent research, the beginnings of modernism in Hungarian literature can be found at the end of the 19th century, which reinforces the relationship between the authors of the last decade of the 19th century and those of the early 20th century. History of Hungarian and World Literature 4 is a continuation of History of Hungarian and World Literature 3. The course Syntax of Hungarian Language 2 is a continuation of the subject Syntax of Hungarian Language 1. The prerequisites of the state examination are profile subjects and completion of the compulsory educational parts/subjects of the study programme.
The information sheets of all educational parts/subjects clearly declare the educational activity by which FoE JSU ensures the achievement of the expected educational outcomes. In most cases of educational parts/subjects, the educational activity - lecture or seminar is preferred, however, due to the current epidemiological situation, we consider it necessary and natural to carry out these activities also in the form of online activities.
In the information sheets of all educational units/subjects, the methods of education are clearly declared as „of presence“.
Curricula in the information sheets of all educational parts/subjects, which are mostly implemented in the form of lectures or seminars.
In the preparation of the educational parts/subjects of the submitted study programme, we have taken into account the workload of students, in accordance with the ECTS, depending on the credits allocated and the time scale in which the education will take place.
In the case of educational parts/subjects with higher credits, where the hourly endowment of full-time teaching was not in line with the student's workload, learning tasks, assignments, outputs are declared, which are solved by the student through guided self-study under the guidance of the teacher, and the subsequent demonstration of knowledge or skills that have been predetermined in the formulation of the assignment.
Persons providing individual subjects of the study programme are listed in the information sheets for the subjects. Contacts to individual course providers are listed in Section 7 of the Study Programme Description.
In the information sheets of the educational units/subjects, the responsible teachers are listed.
The contact details of each person are given in section 7 of the Programme Description.

Feedback on the quality of the education provided is provided through the following surveys: the questionnaire for the evaluation of the quality of education, other surveys in the AIS, implemented in the form of questionnaires or discussion forums, a survey among alumni in the Alumni system in AiS2, to obtain information on the interconnectedness of university studies with the needs of practice, surveys outside the AIS, which are organized by faculties or organizational units due to their specificities in the organizational structure or in the organization of studies.
The means of evaluation are anonymous student questionnaires made available electronically in each semester of the academic year. Students have the opportunity to anonymously comment on the content, form and level of the pedagogical process. The questionnaires are made available to students of individual study programmes via the Academic Information System of J. Selye University, where they have the opportunity to evaluate all courses and their teachers that they have enrolled in a given academic year or semester. The questionnaire consists of three parts: general part, evaluation of the teaching process (two questions for each enrolled course), comments and suggestions. The results of the feedback evaluation are regularly reviewed and the teachers continuously improve the educational process based on this information. The conclusions of the evaluations are reflected in the teaching for the following period.
To ensure feedback from UJS alumni, the Career Counselling Centre of JSU has built the University Alumni System, within which the Alumni Club - Alumni Space has been created, it is a portal for university alumni, which is connected to the AIS. Only former students who have obtained a diploma at JSU can be users of this portal. Thanks to the portal we get information about the employment of our graduates on the labour market, whether they are employed in the profession they graduated from.
