4. - Structure and content of the study programme
a) - The institution describes the rules for the design of study plans within the study programme.

The Preschool Pedagogy and Public Education study program is an integral part of the Teacher Training and Education Science major. Both provide the necessary basis for placement in the theoretical and practical areas of education.

For each subject of the submitted study program, we describe in detail the specific forms of education, its criteria and the necessary objectives, which are also included in the course descriptions.

The student of the study program prepares his/her own study plan in the context of fulfilling the requirements of the study program, or fully fulfilling them and obtaining the required minimum number of credits, in which he/she completes the compulsory subjects and chooses from compulsory and optional subjects. In order to increase the proportion of participants in Erasmus+ mobility, we have included the optional subject called Foreign Studies in the study plan of the study program for students of both modules.

Each semester, the student earns 21 credits from compulsory courses in 12 hours, which he/she completes in the form of lectures, seminars or exercises. By choosing from optional and elective optional subjects, the student determines his/her specialization, i.e. kindergarten teacher or public education. In each semester, 9 credits must be earned from optional and elective courses in a 6-hour time frame. The student earns 30 credits each semester.

Pairs of compulsory optional subjects serve to develop the same competencies. We identify them with the same number and distinguish them with the letters a, b. Among the subjects marked with the letters a and b, students choose one according to their preferences. In the second semester, the students of both modules are specifically prepared for the implementation of the pedagogical practice within the framework of the compulsory subject "General and special didactics and preparation for school observation". Starting from the second year of studies, the student must participate in a field teaching practice, depending on the chosen specialization. Students majoring in preschool pedagogy carry out pedagogical school observation internship, assistant school observation and coherent pedagogical internship in the kindergarten and the school children's club. Students majoring in public education carry out internships in kindergartens, special elementary schools, school children's clubs, leisure centers, and school dormitories. Hospitalization-assistant and pedagogical practice is carried out in the school children's club, leisure center, school dormitory, from which the student chooses. The student receives 5 credit points for the pedagogical practical subjects. The student has the opportunity to develop practical pedagogical skills in the framework of the optional subjects Professional Training and Volunteering, helping activities.

During their studies, students have the opportunity to choose from an alternative course offering: swimming course, skiing course, hiking or cycling. During the duration of the courses, students take part in daily practical training according to the nature of the chosen course, and acquire didactic skills during the implementation of the subject.

The studies end with an oral state exam, for which the student receives 4 credit points, and with the defense of the final thesis, for which the student receives 10 credit points

b) - The institution compiles the recommended study plans for individual study paths.

Following the harmonization of the Preschool Pedagogy and Public Education (basic) study program, newly admitted students will begin their studies at the beginning of the next academic year according to the harmonized program, while second- and third-year students continue to study according to the original recommended curriculum and courses for which they were admitted.

The study plan is available in the JSU Academic Information System.

c) - The study plan generally states:

Preschool Pedagogy and Public Education (basic) study program consists of two modules: Module 1 - Preschool Pedagogy, and Module 2 - Public Education. Compulsory subjects are compulsory for students in both modules. By completing the compulsory optional and optional courses, the student develops his/her specialisation. In the preparation of the educational parts/subjects of the submitted study programme, we have taken into account the workload of students, in accordance with the ECTS, depending on the credits allocated and the time scale in which the education will take place.

In the case of educational parts/subjects with higher credits, where the hourly allocation of full-time teaching was not in line with the student's workload, learning tasks, assignments, outputs are declared, which are solved by the student through guided self-study under the guidance of the teacher, and subsequent demonstration of knowledge or skills, which have been predetermined in the formulation of the assignments.

The list of training schools where the pedagogical practice of students of the study programme Early Childhood Pedagogy and Education takes place is available at: https://pf.ujs.sk/sk/studium/cvi-ne-koly.html. b) - Characteristics of the study programme information management (access to study literature according to Course information sheets, access to information databases and other information sources, information technologies, etc.).

The library provides physical access to the literature for the study programme, at least to the extent of the compulsory literature listed in the course information sheets. At present, the JSU UL has more than 12,206 titles related to pedagogy, didactics and psychology relevant to the submitted study programme. The university library uses the DAWINCI library information system, which is a modern library information system that integrates the latest elements from server applications, database systems, document management and, in conjunction with library knowledge and experience, transforms them into a comprehensive multimedia library system. Since 2006, the University Library JSU has also used this library information system to manage the library collection, manage loans and admin system of publication activities. The system provides users with access to individual library collections through the OPAC Online catalogue via the website. The University Library of JSU just like other university libraries, is involved in the central register of admin system of publication activities for the needs of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Slovak Republic. Access of students and teachers to the necessary databases is also solved by remote access via CVTI SR. This approach provides access to foreign scientific journals available in the online databases of individual publishers. The university library organizes workshops that support orientation in publication databases and work with literary sources.

c) - Characteristics and extent of distance education applied in the study programme with the assignment to courses. Access, manuals of e-learning portals. Procedures for the transition from contact teaching to distance learning.

For the needs of distance education or education by a combined method, the university has 4 BigBlueButton video conference servers in operation. An alternative tool for distance learning is the MS Teams platform, as part of the Office 365 A1 for faculty package, which is available to all teachers and students. In 2015, an e-learning system based on the open-source LMS Moodle was created and put into operation at JSU. This system was partially integrated with the WeBWorK system in 2017. This complex system was also in operation in 2019. Moodle continues to offer the possibility of publishing study and additional materials for individual courses, the possibility of assigning homework and electronic testing of knowledge in the authorised zone. WeBWorK also makes it possible to automatically generate, assign and evaluate mathematical tasks. In addition to the possibility of cable connection, which is available in the halls of residence, UL and other selected places, students in all JSU buildings have access to the Internet via WiFi connectivity. The person's authentication (login name and password) is required to connect to the network. In 2016, a centralized print system was introduced, which is also available to students. The system was also in operation in 2019. Students have the opportunity to add credit to their accounts at the JSU cash desk.

d) - Institution partners in providing educational activities for the study programme and the characteristics of their participation.

In terms of providing educational activities on the study programme, the main partners are the training schools where the pedagogical practice of the students of the Faculty of Education of JSU is carried out.

The Faculty of Education is contractually bound with more than thirty training schools in Slovakia. Within the pedagogical practice students observe and analyse the educational process, learn to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during the study of general-educational subjects, general and branch didactics and gradually acquire the pedagogical skills necessary for the performance of the teaching profession. A list of training schools is available: https://pf.ujs.sk/sk/studium/cvi-ne-koly.html.

e) - Characteristics of the possibilities for social, sports, cultural, spiritual and social activities.

The conditions of providing scholarships from the state budget as well as from JSU's own resources are regulated by the JSU Scholarship Rules and Regulations. During their studies, JSU also provides its students with a stimulating environment. JSU effectively manages and operates JSU Halls of Residence (Dormitories), where it provides comfortable accommodation to university students with suitable conditions for quality housing with adequate hygienic standards and safety. In the area of the Halls of Residence there is a multifunctional sports ground enabling students to meaningfully spend their free time and play sports. JSU also provides students with catering services in the building of the JSU Conference Centre. In the university’s Sports Centre, students have the opportunity to play sports and carry out other leisure activities.

The university also aims to provide opportunities for cultural, social and spiritual activities.  Young talents will find their place in the Cantus Iuventus choir. Students also have the opportunity to visit a chapel established in the Čajka Hall of Residence.

f) - Possibilities and conditions for participation of the study programme students in mobilities and internships (indicating contact details), application instructions, rules for recognition of this education.

JSU offers its students foreign student mobility opportunities within the mobility programmes Erasmus+, Makovecz, CEEPUS and various internships offered by the Balassi Institution (Mobility Grants of the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary). At present, JSU has 118 signed bilateral agreements, memoranda and interinstitutional agreements with 63 partner institutions in 15 European countries as well as interinstitutional agreements in partner countries outside the EU in the KA107 framework.

The Unit for International Relations of Rector´s Office in cooperation with the faculties of JSU regularly organizes information Erasmus + days and workshops and offers the possibility of personal or online consultations. Promotional materials, leaflets and brochures are distributed to JSU students. At the same time, the Unit for International Relations of Rector´s Office regularly publishes information on its activities on the website and shares information to students, teachers and employees of JSU through the information tools of the university. Language support for students is provided through the online language support tool OLS (On-line Linguistic Support) within the program Erasmus +.
